Response to Consultation Paper on Canada’s Financial Consumer Protection Framework published

Finance Canada has just posted a joint brief prepared by SEDI, the Canadian Literacy and Learning Network, Momentum Calgary, SEED Winnipeg and St. Christopher House in Toronto, in response to Finance Canada’s Consultation Paper on the Financial Consumer Protection Framework. This submission was developed collaboratively with assistance from Professor Jennifer Robson at Carleton University, and shared our insights and perspectives as organizations working to strengthen the financial inclusion and wellbeing of Canadians living in poverty. The brief highlights a range of barriers contributing to the financial vulnerability of low-income Canadians and offers recommendations on how the federal government can begin to address these.
